Saturday Kiwanis Ride 1/25
2008-01-23
The Kiwanis ride has been suggested as good training for Palm Springs. They have a large group with varying ability levels that splits into 2 routes, a regular and an advanced route, with one regroup per route. This Saturday they have a loop they call St. Francis, with 26 mile and 36 mile options. I emailed Sue who organizes the ride and she said "come on down" and that they have riders who are also going to Palm Springs.
Here is the info: Saturday, Jan 25 at 8:30am Map Of Kiwanis Park Kiwanis Park is located west of Rural Road, between Guadalupe and Baseline. The meeting point is a parking lot on the west side of All America Way, south of the lake and north of the Sister City Garden. St. Francis Loop For more info contact Michelle From Sue Fassett: Hi ya Michelle! Come on down to the park, its always the more the merrier. Following this note is a write up that should answer most of your questions about the group. We have some club members who are also headed to Palm Springs, so if your group hangs out with us, they might see some familiar faces at that event. We are also training new riders for the approaching MS-150 ride, so definitely a wide spread of ability in the group currently. If you head to our website (shown in the text below), at the home page, click on Route Maps, and under the Saturday Cycing heading, look for the St. Francis Loop. That will give you a preview of the ride we are doing this Saturday. Choice of 26 miles or 36 miles, both include three moderate climbs. Start time this Saturday is 8:30am, then in February we shift to 8:00am. If more questions, write away. Sue Fassett Phoenix Metro Bicycle Club *********** Saturday Cycling is a recreational road bike group based at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. We ride every Saturday of the year and are an all levels group. Cyclists of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome and represented in the pack. The group is large, and no matter what pace and distance you are comfortable with, there will be other riders to keep you company. Our rides are non-competitive, social adventures, with emphasis on having fun, learning about cycling, and exploring the local areas. An optional breakfast stop is offered towards the end of each ride. Helmets are mandatory. There is no fee to participate. Saturday Cycling is associated with Phoenix Metro Bike Club (PMBC) but you do not need to belong to the club to ride with us. If you do choose to join the club, your membership gives you some perks such as insurance (liability and medical coverage), four free meals a year, a monthly newsletter, and the pride of belonging to the coolest bike club around. :-) Kiwanis Park is located west of Rural Road, between Guadalupe and Baseline.
